Privacy Policy

Beeswax is a daily spelling game. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we never do with it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the game, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

• Without an account: nothing personal. Your game progress lives in your own browser's storage. Our server keeps anonymous, aggregate statistics (how many games were played, how often each word is missed).
• With a free account: your email address, a display name you choose, and your game scores, so we can show your best results on the leaderboard.
• With a paid membership: your payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We store only your subscription status (active or not, and until when), so we know whether to unlock the archive.

Who processes it

• Supabase hosts our account system and database. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes; we cannot read them.
• Stripe processes payments and manages subscriptions and cancellations.
• OpenAI generates the spoken word audio. No personal data is sent there; only the dictionary words and hints being read aloud.

Staying signed in

For convenience, we use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in across visits (so you don't re-enter your password every day) and to save your game progress on this device. Your session stays active until you sign out. On a shared or public computer, sign out when you're done.

What we don't do

• No selling or sharing of personal data with advertisers. Ever.
• No ad networks, no third-party tracking cookies.
• No marketing email unless you separately opt in. Account email is transactional only (password resets, payment receipts).

Your choices

You can cancel a membership any time from your account (Manage billing) — access simply ends at the period you paid for. You can ask us to delete your account and its data by emailing the address below; we'll do it within 30 days. You can also request a copy of the data we hold about you.

Retention & security

We keep account data while your account exists, and anonymous aggregate game statistics indefinitely. Connections are encrypted in transit, secrets are kept server-side, and access to user data is restricted.

Children

Beeswax accounts are for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective date.
